Early Savoy Ballroom Lindy Hop

A short piece of early footage showing Lindy Hop as it was danced at or around the Savoy Ballroom. The film quality is rough, but the movement is the point: low, grounded, rhythmic and very social. Look for the bounce in the knees, the way partners separate and return, and the loose Charleston-based footwork that underpins everything. A useful reference for dancers who want to see the dance before it was packaged for Hollywood cameras.
