Frankie Manning's Stories, Herräng 1993
An early recording of Frankie Manning telling stories at Herräng Dance Camp in 1993, only a few years after the revival brought him back to the dance floor. He talks about Whitey's Lindy Hoppers, the Savoy Ballroom, the dancers he admired and his own early career. For anyone who has learnt a Frankie routine like the Shim Sham, hearing the history in his own words adds real depth. Settle in with a cup of tea: this is oral history from the man who invented the air step.
