About The Mabgate Swingers Party
The Mabgate Swingers Party are a self-styled young, energetic septet from Leeds. Their Bandcamp page draws on New Orleans jazz, Kansas City swing and what they call all the big band greats, and they make no secret of the purpose behind it: jazz, they say, was invented for dancing, and they want to keep it that way. Bringing jazz back to the party is the stated aim, which makes them a natural fit for a swing social, although the page does not name any particular dance festivals or schools. Individual players and instruments are not listed. The same Bandcamp page also hosts releases from other Leeds musicians on the Mabgate Sela Tapes label, hinting at a lively local scene around them. One to approach for a northern dance night with a young crowd.
