How to Do a Send-Out

The send-out takes a couple from closed position to open position in six counts – one of the very first moves most beginner classes teach.

What it is

From closed position, the lead uses their right hand on the follow's back to send them gently out to open position, keeping hold with the left hand. It's the bridge between close moves like the Lindy circle and open moves like the tuck turn.

Tips

Send with the body, not by pushing with the hand, and keep the left-hand connection elastic so the follow can feel when to stop. Follows: arrive on count 6, ready for whatever comes next.
