About Down for the Count
Down for the Count is a London swing orchestra that offers its music in several sizes: the All-Stars, a mini big band; a full Big Band of thirteen horn players plus rhythm section and vocals; and an Orchestra with strings of at least twenty-eight musicians. The repertoire runs from Duke Ellington and Count Basie to Frank Sinatra and Glenn Miller, along with original arrangements. Their site notes that they often sell out venues such as Ronnie Scott's, Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho, Le Caveau de la Huchette in Paris and the London Jazz Festival, and the Big Band is pitched as suitable for vintage festivals and dance events. They are mostly a concert and events act rather than a Lindy Hop specialist, and the site does not mention Lindy Hop by name, so treat them as a big-band option for larger dance bookings.
