About The Swing Commanders
The Swing Commanders take songs from the 1930s to the 1950s, from American Songbook standards to Western swing and novelty numbers, and dress them up with close vocal harmonies and hot instrumental solos. Their tempos run from slow ballads through jive to quicksteps, which is why they describe themselves as a band built for dances as much as for shows and parties.
They say they have played, often as headliners, at many of the UK's leading vintage and country music festivals, and that they have no trouble filling a dance hall with Lindy Hoppers, jivers and social dancers alike. They gig across the UK, tour Europe regularly and make the occasional trip to the United States. A good pick for a live-band night where the crowd mixes swing dancers with vintage fans.
