About Black & White Ball (SwingdanceUK 40th Anniversary)
The Black & White Ball marks 40 years of SwingdanceUK and the London Swing Dance Society. It takes place on Saturday 5 December 2026 at Chiswick Town Hall in west London, from 7pm to 11pm. The night is a big-band swing evening with a vintage glamour theme. King Groovy and the Horn Stars play two live sets, at 8.30pm and 9.45pm. A Beginner or Intermediate Lindy Hop class starts at 7.30pm before the dancing, cabaret comes from the Diamond Girls, and there is a chocolate fountain. Dress code is smart, in black, white or both. Pre-orders are open for prosecco, bottled water and a 40th anniversary T-shirt that is collection only. Around the ball sit two more anniversary events, Jingle Bell Jive at the National Army Museum on Sunday 6 December and Stompin' at the 100 Club on Monday 7 December. It suits anyone who likes a dressed-up night out, including newer dancers, thanks to the early class.
What to expect
Tickets are GBP 35 to 45 and the organisers advise booking early for the best price. Doors open at 7pm and the class starts at 7.30pm. The ball is billed as an anniversary celebration, so it may not recur in this form.
