About Swing Sanctuary (Cambridge)
Swing Sanctuary is Cambridge Swing Dance's Lindy Hop and solo jazz festival. The organiser's events list shows a 2027 edition on 19 March, described as Cambridge's Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz Festival, but the dedicated festival page has not been refreshed and still describes the 2022 format, so treat the detail below as a guide to how it has run rather than a 2027 programme. That page describes a weekend with two days of workshops at two levels, a Friday night social dance, a Saturday night party and a Sunday tea dance with cake, all at Storey's Field Centre on Eddington Avenue. The 2022 bands were the Last Chance Ragtime Band on Friday and the Intercontinentals on Saturday, and the workshop teachers were Roser Ros with Leonardo Ost, and Claudia Biggeri with Maxi Prado. The intermediate level was aimed at people with at least a year of regular dancing and the advanced level at three to four years. The page is explicit that neither level suits absolute beginners or very new dancers.
What to expect
The 2022 page said Friday and Saturday parties were GBP 20 each and the Sunday tea dance GBP 10, payable on the door by card or contactless. Those prices and the workshop levels are from 2022 and may change. Check the Cambridge Swing Dance events page for the 2027 date, ticket sales and teachers before planning around this weekend.
