About Save the Fast Dance (Cambridge)
Save the Fast Dance is Cambridge Swing Dance's winter festival for the faster dances, Balboa and Collegiate Shag. The 2027 edition is the fourth and runs from Thursday 14 to Sunday 17 January. It is built around two days of classes with two sets of main teachers and two sets of taster teachers, wrapped in four socials with live bands. The Thursday opening party is at the Old Spring pub, and most of the weekend is at Storey's Field Centre in Eddington on the outskirts of Cambridge. The festival T-shirt carries a design by local artist Gena Hudkova, inspired by Artie Shaw's Back Bay Shuffle, and shirts are ordered when you book rather than sold during the weekend. It suits dancers who already know some Balboa or Shag and want a concentrated weekend of both with live music in the evenings. The organiser follows the STEPS safer spaces code of conduct.
What to expect
Full passes (socials plus lessons) are GBP 150 and social-only passes GBP 60, sold on DanceCloud from 1 October 2026. Discount codes bring these to GBP 120 and GBP 50 for people who could not otherwise afford to attend. Multiple-ticket requests are treated as group bookings, so DanceCloud only makes an offer if it can supply them all. Parking is free at the local park and ride, with regular buses from the station and city centre. Band names and beginner guidance are not given on the page.
