About WGC Swing Festival (Welwyn Garden City)
The WGC Swing Festival, also called the WGC Vintage Festival, is run by JiveSwing.com at Oaklands College in Welwyn Garden City. The 2027 edition is set for Friday 18 to Sunday 20 June. Two days of daytime workshops with international teachers, running from about 9.45am to 4.45pm, are followed by three evening parties with live music, DJs, competitions and shows, usually from about 8pm to 2.30am. Friday is the welcome party, with a history talk at 7pm. Saturday is the Vintage Summer Ball, and Sunday is the farewell party. You choose your class level when you book and the schedule is emailed before the festival. The 2026 festival sold out, which is a good sign for demand. It suits dancers who want a full weekend of workshops plus big evening events, and the college sits a two-minute walk from the station. The page does not name the bands, DJs or teachers for 2027 and does not itemise which dance styles are taught.
What to expect
Booking for 2027 opens on 1 November 2026, and the organisers advise booking early because 2026 sold out. A full pass is GBP 199.99 and an optional festival T-shirt is GBP 25. Welwyn Garden City station is a two-minute walk from the venue, with London King's Cross about 25 minutes away by train. There is parking on site and nearby. A Travelodge is a three-minute walk and a Premier Inn is about 18 minutes on foot.
